Don’t Let Hate or Fear Turn New Yorkers Against Each Other

Earlier this year, Maria Fuertes, a beloved and kind-natured figure in the Richmond Hill community, was murdered. Aminta Kilawan-Narine and Annetta Seecharran denounce the federal government’s exploitation of the crime, to pit community members against one another based on immigration status, and take aim at New York City’s sanctuary policies.

Public Charge Decision

In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court vote to lift a preliminary injunction that blocked the Trump administration’s punitive “public charge rule,” Chhaya calls on its community partners to join in our efforts to fight for justice and the rights of our immigrant community.
