House Flipping in Queens

Over the last decade, Jamaica and Saint Albans, along with much of south Queens, has seen massive amounts of house flipping. So much so, that Jamaica (11434) and St. Albans (11432) were in the top ten zip codes for house flipping across the country.

Because these areas are historically African-American with a growing South Asian population, Chhaya CDC is taking a strong interest in organizing a response to educate the community and fight back against this destabilizing real estate practice.

Concerned residents and homeowners in Jamaica and Saint Albans, join us for an intimate conversation to learn about what the data is telling us. We hope to use this opportunity to listen to each other’s experiences and talk about the concrete steps we can take as a community to stop the practice of house flipping from ruining our neighborhoods.
