Reshma Patel joined Chhaya’s board in September 2017. She has experience in public finance, e-commerce, and data analytics.
Reshma has structured over $35 billion of bond transactions for state and local governments and helped create several new municipal financing vehicles. In 2013, she helped launch a fashion e-commerce start-up. Currently, Reshma is working with nonprofits to help them set up data analytics platforms to better measure the impact of their work.
Reshma serves on Manhattan Community Board 6 and the International Plaza Condomium Board. She represents the 104 Election District of the 74th Assembly District on the New York County Committee. She is President of the Eleanor Roosevelt Democratic Club. Reshma was a 2016-2017 New American Leaders Fellow.
Reshma volunteers with the High Water Women Foundation to teach financial literacy to young people. She is a member of League of Women Voters of New York City where she serves on the Civics Education task force. Reshma is a long time volunteer for Sakhi, a support organization for victims of domestic violence. Reshma is also a member of the Women’s City Club of New York. Reshma has served as a Women’s World Banking LEADer. As a LEADer , she supported Women’s World Banking’s work in microfinance and made annual visits to network members globally
Reshma is supporter of the arts and serves on the board of Dance/NYC. Reshma was one of the founding members of the non-profit theater company Alter-Ego Productions. She has also she has served on the Asia Art Week benefit committee at the Asia Society.
Reshma graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Economics.
