Rasel Kabir Rahman

Community Organizing and
Advocacy Program Manager

As the Community Organizing and Advocacy Program Manager, Rasel Kabir Rahman is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with South Asian and Indo-Caribbean community in New York City. He is also the press contact with ethnic media, especially the Bangladeshi press, and is responsible for translating Chhaya’s materials and brochures into Bangla. Rasel conducts a great deal of Chhaya’s on the ground civic engagement efforts. He has been living in the United States since 2006 and was born in Habiganj, Bangladesh. While in Bangladesh, he worked as a reporter for a major daily news paper. He was the youngest district organizer of World Literature Center, a renowned cultural and linguistic movement that fosters knowledge through reading and cultural activities in Bangladesh. He achieved the President’s Scout Award from Bangladesh Scouts. Rahman holds a Bachelor’s in Commerce and received his Masters in Management from the National University of Bangladesh. He is the President of the Board of Directors of Youth Congress of Bangladeshi Americans (YCBA), a member of Dhaka Drama, Bangladesh Society of New York and Jalalabad Association of America. Rahman likes theatre and cultural activities, cooking, spending time with his friends and traveling.
