Bibi Rashid-Zamirudin serves as Chhaya’s Finance and Human Resource Manager. In her role, she ensures that Chhaya is in compliance with all Federal, State, and City agencies, and that employees are informed about their rights and benefits. Bibi has over six years experience in tax preparation for the community’s personal and small business Federal and State income tax returns. Bibi discovered her calling to serve the underserved while studying at Baruch College. There, she joined the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program (VITA) helping many low to moderate income New Yorkers maximize their tax benefit. She graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor in Business Administration degree in August 2004. She continued this service working at the Food Bank for NYC three years as a Tax Preparer/Quality Prior to her current role, she joined Chhaya as a Tax Associate in 2017, managing the tax Program, training and supervising volunteer tax preparers, completing over 250 tax returns for low-to-moderate income level individuals and families. Bibi understands the importance of community and plays a critical role in the broadening of Chhaya’s Tax Program to her own neighborhood of Richmond Hill, Queens.
