Asset Building

Chhaya’s Economic Development program aims to provide its clients with the tools and information they need to achieve long-term economic independence through career development, financial capability, and asset building. The program provides job readiness training, vocational English language classes, resume building, interview preparation, customer service training, links to potential employers (via job fair recruitment events and direct placements), and education about worker’s rights. This work is complemented by a program that teaches key financial concepts, such as credit, budgeting, and debt reduction.

Chhaya carries out this work in coordination with the following key allies and partners:
Northwestern Queens Financial Empowerment Network (NQFEN)
Immigrant Financial Justice Network (IFJN)
New Yorkers for Responsible Lending (NYRL)
Queens Community Partner Network
Queens Workforce 1
Justice for Job Seekers
