Town Hall & Function
December 16 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
It has been one year since the presidential election and we would like to touch base with the local community to reflect on this past year: what’s next and what do we need to do as a community going forward? For this reason, we will be focusing on the following topics: immigration legislation, family safety (hate crimes, Islamophobia, xenophobia), and how the new tax plan could impact you. We have invited experts from Desis Rising Up & Moving (DRUM), Minkwon Center for Community Action, and from Prosperity Now, to discuss the issues. We invite YOU to contribute to the conversation.
We are a community of immigrants. This function is also a celebration of how our communities come together during this difficult time and a space for people to reconnect and share. There will be performances by Nepali singer, Tenzin Donsel, and Bharatnatyam Dancer, Malini Srinivasan. Food and refreshments indigenous to Jackson Heights will be provided.
