Annual Architects of Change Gala – November 8th, 2017

November 8 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Join us on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 to celebrate with Chhaya its work and accomplishments at its annual Architects of Change Gala.

This year, we are honoring Kiran Ahuja, CEO of Northwest Philanthropy and former Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and Maulik Pancholy, actor and activist.

KIRAN AHUJA: As the founder of the National Asian Pacific Women’s Forum, Ms. Ahuja brought together the diverse AAPI community to build leadership and pursue justice and opportunity for AAPI women. She then went on to lead the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders under the Obama administration — critical in elevating issues confronting the AAPI community to the national level and building a more responsive and accessible federal government.

MAULIK PANCHOLY:   As an actor, Maulik Pancholy has played characters whose identity is not limited to their ethnicity. He stood up for justice by serving as a member of the White House Initiative on AAPI under the Obama administration, and notably stepped down from the commission in protest of the Trump Administration’s divisive policies. Being in the public eye, Mr. Pancholy has offered hope and a sense of belonging to Indian Americans; to LGBT South Asians; and to those subject to bullying because of their ethnicity or sexual orientation.

The gala will be hosted by NPR Reporter, Ms. Aarti Shahani and entertainment will be provide by the Brooklyn Raga Massive.

The gala will be catered by Darbar Grill, a popular New York eatery serving Indian cuisine.
